Shoveling Out The Sty

If one were to describe the decoration theme of my home office, the best terms would be “contemporary American storage shed”.  I actually have a large house but I am also a pack rat and so is my husband.  Consequently, we have a lot of stuff and each of us begins shaking and sweating at the thought of cleaning up and throwing something away.

Having reached a milestone birthday this year I am trying to change some of my bad habits and learn new things.  I am bound and determined to shovel out my office and turn it into a place where I can actually function and a room I can proudly display rather than have to close and lock the door when the cleaning service makes their bimonthly appearance.

I thought I would start this project on line and then periodically give updates on my progress.  This way I’d have some sort of accountability.

This will be a long term project.  Between my day job and my writing deadlines, I will only be able to chip away at the mess.  But as the saying goes ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and this mess didn’t show up over night either (as much as I’d like to think it did).

I will begin this undertaking by dealing with one thing at a time.  My first step will be the desk (which currently looks like the after pictures of a hurricane disaster).  I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.
