Ernie’s Apple Pie

My late father-in-law was an excellent cook.  For a number of years he cooked for the Air Force.  The man’s pies had perfect fluted edges, of course when you have to make several hundred pies at a time I imagine you get plenty of practice.  At holiday’s he would make an apple pie and a pecan pie.  They were both delicious.  I’ll post his pecan pie next month.  In the meantime, this is his apple pie recipe.  I like it because it’s not too sweet or too tart.
