Favorite Books made into Movies

It’s the day after Christmas and I hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends.  Today I’m going to the movies to see the final film in The Hobbit trilogy.

When I was eleven years old my school used to get an order sheet every few months from a books seller and the students were able to purchase new books at a reduced rate.  My teacher read us a scene from The Hobbit and I was fascinated.  When The Hobbit came up on the order sheet, I bought it.  It was love at first read.  I read the book over and over again.  I made a pest of myself at the local library trying to find anything like The Hobbit to read.

As my twelfth birthday approached, my parents kept asking what I wanted.  There was only one thing, The Lord of the Rings.  I was so excited when I received the set.  I read everything including the appendix sections at the back of The Return of the King.

It’s been a long time since my twelfth birthday, but to this day that set of Lord of the Rings is still the best present I have ever received.

Peter Jackson has done a great job bringing the wonderful stories of J.R.R. Tolkien to the big screen.  His interpretation has mistakes in it, but overall he told the story.

What books have you read that really made an impression on your life?
